The Apple IIGS is a personal computer released as part of the Apple II series, featuring a graphics and sound advance and the first Apple computer to use a color graphical user interface influenced by the Macintosh. It was introduced in 1986 and aimed to be backward compatible with earlier Apple II models while offering new capabilities.
